NEW AIRTEL LOGO

Airtel’s rebranding exercise has come in for severe criticism from consumers, especially online. But is Airtel taking note?

NEVER TRUST a company with an ugly logo,’ says Hemant AR on the Facebook group ‘Bring back the old Airtel logo’. Hemant clearly doesn’t like the new identity of India’s biggest mobile phone service provider, and he isn’t alone. Blogs and social networking sites are abuzz with comments since Airtel launched the new logo last week. The remarks are flowing in, and not all are kind. Over half the respondents in a poll on phone comparison portal Fonearena.com said that the old logo was better.

What do you think about this rebranding exercise of Airtel. Comments are welcome!!!!

  3. New logo has got new look and is appealing.Definately it has targeted to youths & red color is depiction of recharged and energised status. If we do semiotic analysis of new logo, their vision & mission statement can easily be aligned. The advertisement features secondary parts that affect “concrete” reality such as warm colour of background & brand name.Look at the logo,it has narrow in last while broad in start,it suggests they have become more ambitious and will soon lead the global arena too

  5. The old logo was much better, as the brand was easy to recognise. There are chances that this new logo will create confusion for those segment of customers who are not much literate and brand conscious, and who do not pay much attention on analysing or eying the logo of various brands. It will create difficulty for them to make sure whether this logo belongs to Airtel, Vodafone or videocon.

  6. In order to distinguish its identity from very close arch rival's resemblance (AIRCEL) Air tel has done a blunder. Its like a a person who always rides Zonda cars suddenly turning his head to Mazdas!! I hate people who like Mazda, its not have shape, class, power, brand . How could Air-tel do experimenting with a its own established brand. Bring back my old Air-Tel logo, coZ M not an Mazda type. .... Huuhhhh :(

  7. Re-branding takes a magnanimous endeavor...if not formulated properly the efforts will go haywire.. that's what happened with Airtel.. it is accepted that companies should move with the markets as it is dynamic in nature.. but @ same time they should look after the question that the change is genuinely required or not..or if needed would it sustain itself against the market sentiments or not.. here what happened with airtel they re-branded its logo 2 a curvy model, which got a strong resentment from the consumers n every1 else.. although logo is a part of companies rebranding strategy which will cost them around 300cr rs.. but in my perception the question is still unanswered that.. did Airtel really need the change?????? :/

  8. ya ankur the question is still unanswered.........
even i m not able to understand why this re-branding occurs, wht is the need? why they do?
if as a brand manager of airtel, i will not go for this decision, i will more focus on sales and trying to create more awareness in rural india, coze as per my research for rural india, Airtel was the most alarming brand of India, usually dere is lot of competition between Airtel n Vodafone but people's usually airtel coze of its services.......

my focus is on improving the services rather than the new logo branding and repositioning.......
    I m not happy with u Airtel...........
Airtel is same as Hero Honda
    DESH ki DHADKAN.........
    DHAK-DHAK go.........

  9. Ankut i thing the Question u have asked will be answered by the top management of airtel.but i m truly agree with u and vishal that there is no need for the logo change.Airtel was going good but little more improvement was needed in service.so there was no need of re-branding.they can come with new more advertisement but new logo is not good.

  10. as we know that airtel company changed its logo because it wants its re branding in market and show it comes in market with a new technology 3 G technology. As I think company doesn't change its logo because this logo is represent the strength of the company

  11. The change in logo shows that company is more concern about the westren patr of the world this can be easily seen in the new adds of airtel and the new logo is also based on the western them it shows that company is not interested in the Indian market or else they did the same fault which were done by Kellogg's in India ..................................................... against the culture or not with the culture
and this can be harmful for airtel in future
